Can we Assist with Your Soft Strip Building Demolition Project?

What is soft strip demolition?

Soft strip works are conducted before the demolition, refurbishment or remodelling of a building. The intention of the soft strip is usually to leave nothing but the steel frame/shell of the building. It involves the removal of all non-structural elements of the interior and exterior.

Items for removal during a soft strip demolition may include:

  • Fixtures and fittings (doors, windows, bathroom and kitchen fittings)
  • Internal walls
  • Ceilings
  • Temporary structures
  • Equipment and machinery

Safe work procedure for soft strip demolition work

Before starting on any soft stripping, RJS Waste Management will carry out an internal and external survey to identify the presence of any potentially hazardous materials. Then, if required, we will carry out the safe removal of asbestos or any other hazardous waste.

Soft stripping and internal demolition work have the potential to produce high levels of dust and noise, which can have health implications. Careful planning and selection of soft strip techniques are required to ensure that dust levels are kept to a minimum. This may involve limiting the number of people in the work area, screening work areas, the use of Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE), and the use of water spray to suppress dust levels. You can read more advice from the Health and Safety Executive here.

High levels of noise are often unavoidable but RJS Waste Management works with each customer, where possible, to ensure the noisiest work is kept to times when it will cause the least impact and disruption.
