Asbestos surveys and asbestos testing service throughout the UK

RJS Waste Management offers asbestos surveys in London, Oxford and Chichester – carried out by BOHS P402 certified surveyors.

Asbestos Management Surveys, Asbestos Reinspection Surveys, Demolition and Refurbishment Surveys

From asbestos management surveys to demolition and refurbishment surveys, alongside regular reinspection, we are experts in managing asbestos-contaminated materials. Operating from our head office in Chichester, West Sussex, and regional offices in Oxfordshire, London and the Midlands, we provide top-tier asbestos services nationwide.

Under the Control of Asbestos Regulations (CAR) 2012, non-domestic properties such as offices, factories and shops built before 2000 are legally required to maintain an asbestos register. Our asbestos testing process ensures your premises meet these obligations, safeguarding employees, contractors and visitors from potential exposure.

Our British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) P402-certified surveyors carry out asbestos surveys in accordance with HSG264 Asbestos: The Survey Guide (2012) and HSG248 Asbestos: The Analysts’ Guide for Sampling, Analysis and Clearance Procedures.

Asbestos survey types

Asbestos surveys carried out by RJS Waste Management

RJS Waste Management offers the following asbestos survey types:

  • Asbestos management surveys
  • Asbestos reinspection surveys
  • Refurbishment and demolition surveys

Asbestos Management Surveys

These surveys determine whether asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) are present, assess their condition and outline appropriate management measures. They involve sampling and analysis but are less intrusive than demolition surveys.

Asbestos Reinspection Surveys

Following an asbestos management survey, ACMs must be monitored regularly. An asbestos reinspection survey should be conducted annually to update the asbestos register and confirm continued safety.

Demolition and Refurbishment Asbestos Surveys

For refurbishment or demolition projects, a more detailed and intrusive survey is required. The demolition and refurbishment asbestos survey identifies ACMs across all areas impacted by the work. In line with CAR 2012 (Regulation 7), ACMs should be removed before any major renovation or demolition begins.

The Asbestos Testing Process

All samples collected during our asbestos surveys are sent to an independent UKAS-accredited laboratory for analysis. Our detailed reports include actionable recommendations, such as labelling, containment or removal, helping you update your asbestos register and comply with safety regulations.

Complying with Your Duty to Manage

If you are responsible for maintaining non-domestic premises, Regulation 4 of the CAR 2012 requires you to manage asbestos risks appropriately. This duty extends to premises like commercial buildings, factories and communal areas in residential properties, ensuring the safety of all occupants.

A more exhaustive list of premises and areas that are covered by a duty to manage can be found on the HSE website.
