RJS Waste Management UK is committed to top standards of quality, safety, training and environmental protection.
We have accreditations from the likes of Constructionline and ISO as well as an Environment Agency waste carrier licence.
Our Quality, Safety & Environmental Accreditations & Licences
The Environment Agency
Working towards better places for people and wildlife, and to support sustainable development, the Environment Agency is England’s non-departmental public body for protecting and enhancing the environment. Sponsored by Defra, some of their responsibilities include:
- Regulating major industry and waste
- Treatment of contaminated land
- Water quality and resources
Waste Carrier Licence
By law, businesses that transport and dispose of waste must be registered with the Environment Agency. RJS Waste Management has a Certificate of Registration under the Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011 as an upper tier waste carrier, broker and dealer. This means we can collect, carry and dispose of your waste in our waste carrier licenced vehicles.
International Organization for Standardization
International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is an independent, non-governmental organisation that has brought together the finest representatives across many industries since 1946. With its membership of 165 national standards bodies, it unites experts to share knowledge and develop voluntary, consensus-based, market-relevant international standards that support innovation and provide solutions to global challenges.
Safety, Health Environment & Quality
Otherwise known as Safety, Health Environment & Quality (SHEQ), RJS Waste Management’s Integrated Management System (IMS) consists of the following certifications:
- ISO 45001:2018 – Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems
- ISO 14001:2015 – Environmental Management System
- ISO 9001:2015 – Quality Management System
A widely recognised health and safety standard, ISO 45001 is designed for businesses, like RJS Waste Management, who want to improve employee safety, minimise workplace risks and create better working conditions.
While ISO 14001 is an environmental management certification that helps businesses like ours to reduce how their operations negatively affect the environment. And ISO 9001 is all about quality management and helping businesses like ours to strive for better services to consistently meet our customers’ needs.
Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme
The Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS) is the UK’s leading, and award-winning, accreditation scheme for contractors and supply chain management services for clients. They help ensure compliance across the different areas of risk management and mitigate risks.
CHAS Accredited Contractor
As a CHAS Accredited Contractor, RJS Waste Management shows they can be trusted when it comes to our health and safety compliance and supply chain management. This means that when an architect, property developer or construction project manager wants to find a waste management contractor, they will see our CHAS accreditation and know we are right for the job.
Constructionline
Originally a government department, for over 20 years Constructionline has supported thousands of businesses by connecting buyers and suppliers. With compliance at their core, they act as a bridge between their members to access projects with fellow members they can trust.
Constructionline Gold member
As a Constructionline Gold Member, RJS Waste Management has been verified to meet the Common Assessment Standard while going above and beyond PAS 91.
Our company’s credentials have been assessed for everything from environmental and quality management to equal opportunities and modern slavery act adherence to anti-bribery and corruption policies.
SafeContractor
A leading accreditation scheme which recognises rigorous standards in health and safety management among contractors, Alcumus SafeContractor is used by thousands of organisations in the UK from SMEs to FTSE 100 companies.
SafeContractor accreditation
RJS Waste Management has been awarded SafeContractor accreditation for achieving excellence in health and safety in the workplace.
The company’s application for accreditation was driven by the need for a uniform standard across the business. As well as helping us create a more sustainable workplace it is sure to enhance our ability to win new contracts.
Cyber Essentials
A government-backed industry-supported scheme, Cyber Essentials is a set of basic technical controls that help organisations of all sizes and sectors protect themselves against common online threats.
Cyber Essentials certification
As well as helping RJS Waste Management guard against cyber-attack, Cyber Essentials demonstrates our commitment to cyber security for our customers and suppliers.
The government requires all suppliers bidding for contracts involving the handling of certain sensitive and personal information to hold an up-to-date Cyber Essentials certificate.
Joint Supply Chain Accreditation Register
The Joint Supply Chain Accreditation Register (JOSCAR) is a collaborative tool used by prime contractors in the aerospace, defence and security industries. It acts as a single source for pre-qualification and compliance information. Using JOSCAR helps determine whether a supplier is “fit for business”.
JOSCAR accreditation
As a cross-sector collaborative solution, JOSCAR accreditation will help RJS Waste Management reduce the time, cost, resources and duplication currently needed to provide information to major clients.
Holding common supplier information in a central system allows information to be accessed by all aerospace, defence and security organisations who are looking for waste management, asbestos services and demolition works providers.
Safety Schemes in Procurement
Founded in 2009, the Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) is an umbrella organisation supported by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). With a mission is to reduce occupational health and safety assessment duplication, the SSIP Member Scheme boasts more than 81,000 suppliers.
SSIP certification
Like all SSIP-certified companies, RJS Waste Management meets the SSIP Core Criteria. With the SSIP accreditation recognised throughout the UK, our clients (and potential clients) can easily check our health and safety compliance.
Rather than completing several health and safety assessments for different clients, SSIP streamlines the tendering process by enabling us (and all contractors/buyers) to follow a closely related framework. This saves time and money for all involved.
Prompt Payment Code
The Prompt Payment Code (PPC), administered by the Small Business Commissioner on behalf of the Department for Business & Trade, was introduced in 2008.
Paying partners promptly and within agreed payment terms is not only an ethical responsibility but economically beneficial for all parties and the wider economy.
The PPC encourages a culture of prompt payment between businesses, especially from larger to smaller businesses.
While signing up is voluntary, adherence to the Code benefits buyers as well as suppliers. After all, cash fuels growth for small and medium businesses. Without speed and certainty of payment, cash flow suffers, employees may not get paid and livelihoods are put at risk.
We at RJS Waste Management pride ourselves on meeting the code criteria and championing fellow SMEs.
