In July 2012, RJS Waste Management UK was founded by Russell Shrives – an Oxfordshire man living in West Sussex. Having worked at blue-chip business for more than a decade and keen to leave behind the internal politics, Russell branched out on his own. He was ready to better the services offered by his competitors and bring a community-minded, safe, and efficient waste management and asbestos removal business to the south of England.

RJS Waste Management Chichester

After setting up an office in Chichester, Russell visited every industrial estate from Worthing to Portsmouth and built a solid foundation of local relationships. He soon won an MOD contract to dispose of missile tail-end units that were contaminated with asbestos– and he was off!

Technical genius Colin Daniels came aboard the very next year and helped Russell to start the asbestos surveying department that thrives today. Two years later, Russell’s university mate Jon Gotham joined the team. He raised the bar of RJS Waste Management’s quality of workmanship and spearheaded its winning procedures. In 2023, Tony Wells started as sales director to turbocharge our customer services offer.

The core team are still based in West Sussex’s capital city and enjoy being close to the stunning South Downs and Chichester Harbour – both perfect places to get some fresh air and recharge after a day of hazardous waste and asbestos removal.

RJS Waste Management Oxford

With the business continuing to develop, Russell then opened an office in his hometown of Abingdon, Oxford. Today, RJS Waste Management has relationships with a wide range of businesses, including H Tuckwell & Sons Ltd and HNB Construction Services Ltd.

A keen ice hockey fan, Russell supported the local community as a director of the Oxford City Stars from 2016 to 2018. The team progressed well during this time, winning the NIHL2 League Title and the NIHL2 National Championship. In 2022, Russell co-founded Oxford Rising Stars, a team with a focus on developing the sport. He continues to follow the teams, watching live games whenever he can.

From 2020, RJS Waste Management proudly sponsored Oxford United Football Club on social media. Not only is this Russell’s home team that he has supported since childhood but it is also another way for the RJS team to stay connected with the Oxford community.

RJS Waste Management London

Already filling up their pocketbook of contacts in Chichester and Oxford, it was time for the business to branch out to the capital in 2016. Contracts manager Ray Haslett continues to grow the business in Central London and Greater London and RJS Waste Management’s opportunities to fulfil bigger and larger projects continue to abound.

RJS Waste Management’s business success is largely a result of the priority we give to customer care, from enquiry to quotation to fulfilment. Not only that but our team are the best in the business.
