WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment)

RJS are experts in auditing and managing your WEEE waste

We can design your WEEE recycling strategy with effective storage and collection procedures

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE) was introduced into UK law in January 2007 in the form of the Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment Regulations 2007 (pdf) and updated in 2013 as the Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment Regulations 2013 (pdf). The main aim of the WEEE Directive is to encourage the recycling and reuse of electrical and electronic waste and by doing this it hopes to reduce the amount that is produced.

WEEE contains significant amounts of precious metals and halogenated substances and by recycling and reusing it we can significantly reduce the requirement for extraction of new raw materials and thus reduce the impact on the environment.

WEEE is in the top five growing waste streams within the UK and currently produces up to one million tonnes per year, with this figure set to rise substantially within the next decade. This vast increase is due to various factors such as a higher demand, lower priced products and advances in technology.

We can design your WEEE recycling strategy to your needs. With our expert knowledge a site audit will be conducted and relevant information used to set out your WEEE storage and collection procedures. On the day of collection we will provide you with a duty of care transfer note and a Hazardous Waste Consignment note.

Data Security

Disposing of redundant IT equipment and the sensitive information that a hard drive may hold is a concern for every business. We will provide a data destruction certificate for any hard drives that are collected.
