Demolition is covered by the Building Act 1984 and all works must comply with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015. Before starting the demolition a health & safety plan must be produced by the principalcontractor and notification given to the local authority.
Careful planning is essential to identify factors such as the size and position of the building, access and the surrounding areas, construction style of the building (steel or concrete framed, brick built etc) and the materials comprising
the structure. Consideration has to be taken for whether hazardous materials such as asbestos are present. The building may also require a soft strip to remove all non structural elements.
All jobs will have a Method Statement & Risk Assessment compiled to ensurethat works are carried out safely and efficiently.
